Fun times with my coteachers!

The best thing about EPIK (English Program in Korea)
 is teamteaching!

After a week of orientation it was time for all of us new teachers to be sent to our cities/towns where we will be teaching. There was no choice really in the matter and we were told basically the day before we left. I was told that I would be placed by the East coast in Sokcho/Yangyan area with Hyeun buk middle school 형북 중학교 as my main school. Mr Lee was to be my main coteacher from that school. He met and took me to view the school, bring my things to my new apartment, and help me to get settled in to life in the city by getting a id card and a cell phone. We met the previous English teacher of that school, Ryan, and enjoyed dinner together of Sokcho's famous seafood.

After being in Korea for about a month, I had my bag stolen with important items in it. I had left it on the beach in Sokcho and went to test out the water, and when I came back my jacket and bag were gone. I learnt my lesson that I am no longer on Hornby Island but this could have happened anywhere. Some locals helped me contact the police who came and helped me search. At first they were thinking I might be a Russian (many female Russians come over and work as a prostitute and have no id) until I explained that I am from Canada and am a English teacher here. My phone was taken, wallet, Canadian items I brought to share with the students ect... ahhh we filed a report, and I got through to the supervising coordinators of my area who took care of me. My teachers at my school were all very sympathetic and helped me get a new phone and id card and told me to take it easy. Bless them!
These two lovely teachers So young and Young jung work with me at Chong dae Elementary school. I go there on Wednesday to teach gr 5 with Young jung and gr 6 with so young.
These are my awesome co teachers from Chong bong Elementary school. On tuesdays I teach 4 grade 5 classes with Nan young and 2 grade 6 classes with Young hwa. I also come back and teach 2 more grade 6 classes with Young hwa.

For my birthday, the students were all really sweet and sang to me and I gave them a group hug. I recieved a few gifts from them and my coteachers as well. After class we went out and they bought me a cake and sang Korean style Happy birthday while clapping and smiling :)
